Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Clinic

Women & Infants Hospital offers sex change treatments through its Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Clinic.

Dr. Beth Cronin, Division Director of the Division Of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at Women And Infants Hospital, wrote a blog discussing medical options for transgender individuals, including surgery.

“Surgery is only part of the transition for many individuals and is not necessary for everyone. You can express your gender identity with your hairstyle or how you dress. You can change your name and your pronouns. If you are looking to physically transition, you can turn to your doctor for help. An ob-gyn, primary care physician, or another doctor might recommend hormone therapy and/or surgery.”

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Care Center also employs Dr. Lauren Abern, who “specializes in LGBTQIA+ health care including ‘gender affirming’ hormone therapy for transgender and nonbinary individuals.”

Women & Infants Hospital’s Minimally Invasive Gynecological Program offers sex change surgeries.

“The Minimally Invasive Gynecological (MIGS) program at Women & Infants Hospital offers complex surgical treatments of benign (non-cancerous) diseases. Our doctors have two years of additional fellowship training in advanced surgical techniques and are experts in benign gynecologic surgery.”
